Landscapes of Eternity
Naissam Jalal

The Meghwal communities’ traditional occupation was farming, cattle-herding and weaving. Meghwals are known for their contribution to embroidery and the textile industry. They are Hindu by religion and worship great poets and saints like Kabir, Ramdev Pir and Bankar Mataji as some of their primary gods.

They claim to be descendants of Rishi Megh, a saint who had the power to bring rain from the clouds through his prayer. The word Meghwal is derived from
Sanskrit words megh, meaning clouds and rain, or also war.

Dariya and Kilam are leading musicians from this community who shall be performing at the Sacred Spirit Festival.
