Folk Futures
Showcasing the young heirs of Rajasthan’s root musical traditions
India

An initiative of MMT’s Museum Music Projects, this morning is a rare chance to witness young folk musicians in the making. Youngsters learning vocals and traditional songs, the Sindhi Sarangi, Dholak & Khartal… all under the tutelage of master musicians. Over the past month, these emerging artists have been training directly under their gurus, absorbing not just repertoire and technique, but the lived wisdom of centuries-old musical and performance traditions. This rare coming together offers a peek into the future of Rajasthani folk music, carried forward by young hands and voices.
